The publication of the first article about Brazilian sacred natural sites in English is now a done. Titled Among Saints, Enchanted and Orixás: a journey through the diversity of sacred natural sites in Brazil by Érika Fernandes-Pinto & Marta de Azevedo Irving (2018), the article was published in the magazine Development and Environment and is available for download at the link: https://revistas.ufpr.br/made/article/view/57281/37082
The article illustrates the diversity of these sites in Brazil, its main characteristics and socio-environmental implications, evaluating how this theme has been addressed in national surveys. The results show the recurrence of the manifestation of this phenomenon in the different regions of the country, as well as its importance for many social groups, in contrast to its incipient recognition in public policies. There is also an invitation to form alliances that contribute to the mission of unveiling the charms and mysteries of the sacred dimensions of nature in Brazil.
