Although the sad news on the passing of an inspired teacher and friend Oliver Rackham overshadow this news, Dr Kalliopi Stara would like to share that in collaboration with the Greek Ministry of Culture, Education and Religious Affairs she has proposed the sacred groves of Konitsa and Zagori, the area where she worked in for the last 15 years, is to be included in the national list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. The proposal is supported locally by the University of Ioannina, the Municipality of Zagori, the North Pindos National Park, Medina and Delos Initiative and some other local groups and NGOs. On March 8, she will present the proposal in an event organised in Ioannina, the nearest town. You can read the application here.
