CSVPA is looking for case studies, experience stories and examples of guidelines for its Cultural and Spiritual Significance of Nature Programme.
The IUCN WCPA Specialist Group on Cultural and Spiritual Values of Protected areas (CSVPA) is currently developing IUCN Best Practice Guidelines and training modules. The products are part of its programme on the promotion and integration of the cultural and spiritual significance of nature in the management and governance of protected and conserved areas.
Taking a broad approach, the project considers what nature and natural features, as well as wider land and seascapes, mean spiritually, culturally, and aesthetically to people of different cultures and societies, both traditional and modern. Seeking to be as inclusive as possible, the guidelines and training modules bring managers together with representatives of indigenous traditions and local communities, mainstream religions and the general public in order to make the management and governance of protected and conserved areas more sustainable, effective, and equitable. Read more about the programme in the concept note.
The case studies, experience stories, and examples of guidelines will be used in the development of IUCN-WCPA Best Practice Guidelines and training modules. Case studies will also be made available online at the CSVPA website and where appropriate could be shared with IUCN Panorama Initiative.
If you have a case study, experience story, or guideline example of relevance for the project, please follow the guidance and template available here.

Hello CSCPA Team,
The Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park and World Heritage Site would like to contribute a Case Study to
this endeavour. It will take us a little while as its group work – we should be able to submit a first draft by October
2016 – would that be OK/of interest to you ?
Sincerely,
Susan Otuokon, Ph.D.
Executive Director, JCDT/Manager, Blue & John Crow Mountains
National Park and World Heritage Site
Sounds like a great proposal – do keep us posted on progress and we look forward to your draft. All the best with the group work. In peace, Rianne (as CSVPA co-webmaster)
