Everyone is invited to attend and participate in the workshop entitled “Cultural and Spiritual Significance of Nature in the Management and Governance of Protected Areas and World Heritage Sites” at this upcoming World Conservation Congress (WCC) 2016 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The purpose of the workshop is as follows:
This interactive workshop promotes the cultural and spiritual significance of nature in protected area management and governance. Participants expand on work in progress developing IUCN best practice guidelines along with training modules and explore the risks, benefits, and opportunities of World Heritage inscription. Taking an inclusive approach, the workshop brings together protected area managers with representatives of indigenous traditions, mainstream religions, and the general public.
